Having a conservatory is a practical and stylish way of expanding your home and adding more space and light.

When having a conservatory added to your home there are some regulations that must be followed:

The conservatory has to have either a transparent roof or a translucent roof.

The conservatory walls must be a minimum of 75% glazing, so at least 75% of the walls must be glass and only 25% of less can be brick.

The floor area of the conservatory must not be larger than 30m².

The conservatory has to be constructed at ground level.

The conservatory must be separated from the house by a barrier ( patio doors or French doors)

The glass used to build the conservatory must be safety glass.

There are additional conditions to the ones above and planning permission will be needed if:

The conservatory will cover more than 50% of your original garden.
Your development rights have been removed.

Conservatory is less than 20 metres from a road or public footpath including, roads, motorways, bridal way’ public foot path, access to another property of access to another garage.
